Week 10
Weeks of October 14th - October 17th
​1) Begin new project-based learning unit entitled, "Build A City."
STEP 1: Brainstorm important areas, businesses, features every city needs. Discuss.
2) Highlight those areas that are most important from brainstormed list.
3) STEP 2: Students will use the dictionary app on their iPads to look up important terms related to our city planning and building.
Week 11
Weeks of October 20th - October 24th
​1) Complete defining all key terms of our PBL unit. Go over together.
2) Go over STEP 3 and discuss applying for a job and the interview process. Discuss jobs available: Construction Workers, Architects, Engineers, City Planners, Landscapers, etc.
3) Students complete and submit a job application for their chosen job and turn into Mrs. Brister
Week 12
Week of October 27th - October 31st
​1) Students will receive notification of their jobs in our "Build A City" unit. Students will complete STEP 4 with their groups.
2) Discuss STEP 5. If time allows, students in groups should submit 5 choices for names to name the class's city. Turn into Mrs. Brister, We will vote next week.
Week 13
Week of November 3rd - November 7th
​1) Students will vote on city names submitted last week using a ballot.
2) Students will complete STEP 6 in your packets.
3) In your groups, brainstorm and discuss STEP 7. Write down any thoughts and ideas on the lines provided in your packet.
Week 14
​1) Students will watch the video below.
2) Students will then work on STEP 8 in their groups. Remember, the larger you may your buildings, the less you can make in your city. A house should not be the same number of squares as a mall. A gas station should not be the same number of squares as a hospital. Try and keep the building and areas to a proportionate size to one another. Don't forget you need roads, traffic lights, parking lots at businesses, and driveways at homes. Also, don't forget to label all areas, buildings, etc. Use pencil so you can erase and adjust size and location as needed.

​1) Begin new unit on Google Docs. Follow the tutorials and Mrs. Brister's instructions to tour Google Docs and complete various functions using the tools.
2) Complete these instructions on a Google Docs of your own.
​1) Begin a new Google Doc. Give it the file name: first and last name - poem. Give your doc the title: "All About Me."
2) Type the poem center aligned, Times New Roman font size 18 for title and 12 for text. Fill in the blanks with your answers before you type.
