Week 4

Week of September 2nd - 5th

Begin Digital Citizenship unit. commonsense.org (Media Balance & Well-being) Distinguish between activities online and unplugged activities. Which ones contribute to forming negative habits? Complete handout, "Balancing Act" with T-chart. Then continue with "Don't feed the Phish" at commonsense.org. How can you protect yourself from phishing? Decide what clues from given phishing attemps, tell us they are not on the up and up.

​Continue Digital Citizenship unit... Begin "News & Media Literacy"  How do we find credible information on the Internet? Students may work with a partner to play Interacty matching vocabulary definitions with their terms. Students play Quizizz to review vocabulary terms.

Week 8

Week of September 29th - October 3rd

Review Digital Citizenship terms and information with a game of Quizziz. Complete the Dig. Cit. Quiz 

Complete Digital Citizenship Quiz.   Students may play Interland when finished.

Week 9

Week of October 6th - 10th

Students complete the Learning Styles Inventory.  Discuss the difference between a visual, auditory and tactile learner. Discuss ways that each type of learner can optimize their learning with various ideas and techniques.

Distribute step by step instructions  and discuss Google Docs. Tour the application with students demonstrating features and tools they have not yet learned.  How might this app be helpful and in different situations? Students choose a partner to create a collaborative Google Doc with a twist. Have them draw a story starter from a basket. One student begins the doc with the story starter and shares the doc with their partner to collaborate. One student writes a sentence, then the other student adds a sentence. Students continue in this manner to create a story to given prompts without discussion of the story line.  Double-check one another's spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. Elect one person from your partnership to read the story aloud to the class. Begin reading stories aloud, if time permits. sharing stories with the class. Submit or Turn in.
